A child that turns six before February 1 of that term is required to attend school for the entirety of the term.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h4 tabindex=\"0\">What are the day and\/or hour requirements?<\/h4>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Florida has no set day or hour requirements for home instruction. However, if you are homeschooling under an umbrella program or with a private tutor you may be required to adhere to the typical 180-day school year.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h4 tabindex=\"0\">What are my options for homeschooling?<\/h4>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>There are three options<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Establish a home education program<\/li>\n<li>Enroll in a private school designed for home educated students (Umbrella Program)<\/li>\n<li>Establish a private tutoring program<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h4 tabindex=\"0\">Is a teaching certificate necessary to homeschool in Florida?<\/h4>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>No. A Florida teaching license is <em>not <\/em>required for parents UNLESS they are establishing a private tutoring program.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h4 tabindex=\"0\">Are there any state-mandated subjects we need to cover?<\/h4>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>No. Parents have the freedom to choose their child&#8217;s curriculum.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h4 tabindex=\"0\">Are there any assessment requirements?<\/h4>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>No, except for option 1. There is a required annual evaluation of the homeschooled child&#8217;s progress, and you get to choose which method best assesses your child&#8217;s growth. That&#8217;s ok! Educational freedom is about pursuing what will best serve your child and your family NOW.<\/p>\n<p>To discontinue your homeschool program you will need to file a\u00a0<strong>notice of termination<\/strong>\u00a0with your local school district.<\/p>\n\t<h2>\n\t\t\t\tFinding the &#8220;Right&#8221; School\n\t\t\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Florida Conference Office of Education (FLCOE) is dedicated to the parent-led, Christian education of children in all its forms.
